Economic Justice & Fair Trade

Listen! The wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.

James 5:4

Since 2003 RCHP has been active in the Fair Trade Movement.  After years of operating a fair trade store (2003-2008), RCHP helped the nonprofit organization Ten Thousand Villages open a retail store in Highland Park.  When that retail store closed in 2018, RCHP reopened its fair trade store—this time under the title Global Grace Marketplace (GGM).  GGM is an opportunity for artisans from small cooperatives in developing countries to enter the U.S. marketplace in a dignified and just way. Our store is located at 208 Raritan Avenue in Highland Park, and is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00am to 6:00pm. You can contact the store manager at 610-310-1664, or email ggmarketplace@rchp-ahc.org.

RCHP has been active in local and national movements to address systemic poverty, wage theft, and economic injustice. One of our most trusted national partners is The Poor People’s Campaign, first organized by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and recently revitalized as a “National Call for Moral Revival.” We have participated in several demonstrations and protests through this organization, and will continue to explore ways to support and partner with them.
